Girofle

The note of Girofle, or Clove Bud, erupts with a pungent, intensely warm, and sweet-spicy character, immediately commanding attention. It possesses a distinct medicinal facet, often likened to a dental office or an ancient remedy, due to its primary constituent, eugenol. Initially, it can be sharp, almost biting, like a fiery spark on the palate, but it mellows quickly into a velvety, slightly woody, and profoundly aromatic warmth. There's an underlying richness, a subtle fruitiness, and sometimes a hint of smoky dryness that adds complexity. It projects with considerable strength, often extending its embrace generously, and its longevity is excellent, clinging to the skin as a robust heart and eventual base note, lending structure and a lingering heat to compositions.
